KEEP KNOWLEDGE – LEVERAGE EXPERIENCE
Unleashing talent & workforce of late-career
employees and senior citizens to foster a socially and
economically sustainable Europe
About the project
The Erasmus+ project Senior Talent aims to develop strategies and tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to preserve and further enhance the talents and skills of individuals aged 55 and over, who are transitioning into retirement or already retired. The goal is to meaningfully integrate these competencies into the modern working world and promote their creative application.
The solutions developed are intended to be intergenerational, needs-based, and economically attractive, enabling participants to further develop social and educational competencies.
Our motivation
The history of human longevity vividly illustrates that population aging is a unique and unprecedented phenomenon. On one hand, it represents a positive and remarkable development: we are living longer and healthier lives than previous generations—a trend that is expected to continue in the future. On the other hand, this shift, especially in highly developed countries, combined with declining birth rates, is leading to a demographic imbalance that poses significant economic and societal challenges. There is a lack of historical experience and proven approaches to draw upon. This development is an undeniable reality that we must confront—effectively and with a forward-looking mindset, as emphasized by recent scientific literature.
The term “Silver Tsunami” describes the current demographic shift marked by the growing number of older individuals in society. This change is primarily driven by the Baby Boomer generation—those born between 1946 and 1964. Our task is to consciously acknowledge this development, plan concrete measures for the future, and turn this challenge into an opportunity.
