About the Project
The Erasmus+ project SeniorTalent – Unleashing talent & workforce of late-career employees and senior citizens to foster a socially and economically sustainable Europe aims to develop strategies and tools in human resource management for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to maintain and further develop the talents and skills of people aged 55 and over who are in transition to retirement or already retired. The aim is to put these skills to good use in the modern working world and promote their creative application.
The solutions developed should be intergenerational, needs-oriented and economically attractive, so that the participants not only retain their professional skills, but also further develop their social and educational skills. The experiences and needs of decision-makers in small and medium-sized enterprises play a central role in this, providing valuable insights into the current situation in the world of work.
Our Motivation
The history of human longevity impressively demonstrates that the ageing of the population is a unique and unprecedented phenomenon. On the one hand, this is a positive and remarkable development, as we are living longer and healthier lives than previous generations – a trend that is predicted to continue in the future. On the other hand, this development, especially in highly developed countries, combined with declining birth rates, is leading to a demographic imbalance that poses significant economic and social challenges. There is a lack of both historical experience and proven approaches to fall back on. This development is an irrefutable reality that we must face up to – and in an effective and forward-looking way, as the latest scientific literature also emphasizes.
The term Silver Tsunami describes the current demographic change, which is characterized by the increasing number of older people in society. In particular, this change is being driven by the baby boomer generation, i.e. those born between 1946 and 1964. Our task is to be aware of this development, plan concrete measures for the future and turn the challenge into an opportunity.
