To effectively address the identified challenges, our project is developing two dedicated courses designed for individuals aged 55 and above. All courses and project results will be freely accessible to everyone.
Course:
Mentoring training for 55+
For a company to operate successfully, it requires skilled workers across all areas of its operations. Throughout their working lives, employees accumulate valuable knowledge, skills, and routines that contribute to the organisation’s success. However, many younger or new employees often lack the necessary expertise, abilities, and insights to navigate the complexities of the working world effectively.
European societies, and consequently European companies, are currently undergoing a significant demographic shift. Within the next few years, a substantial number of skilled workers from the baby boomer generation will reach retirement age, while younger individuals from Generation Z, who bring different perspectives on work and life, are entering the workforce. To manage these changes effectively, businesses need to foster alignment and collaboration between generations.
The Mentoring Training Programme is designed to address these challenges by equipping participants with the tools and techniques to act as effective mentors. The programme aims to support potential mentors in providing guidance, advice, and encouragement to younger or less experienced employees, while also fostering intergenerational collaboration and knowledge transfer.
The programme is structured into five comprehensive modules:
Module1: Introduction
This module provides an overview of the mentoring process, its importance in the workplace, and the goals of intergenerational knowledge sharing.
Module 2: Active Listening and Questioning
Participants will learn how to develop their listening skills, ask meaningful questions, and understand the perspectives of mentees.
Module 3: Feedback, Coaching Models, and Diversity
This module focuses on delivering constructive feedback, exploring coaching frameworks, and understanding the role of diversity in mentorship.
Module 4: Communication and Conflict Management
Participants will gain skills in effective communication, managing conflicts, and fostering positive relationships between mentors and mentees.
Module 5: Reflection
The final module encourages participants to reflect on their learning experiences, share insights, and evaluate their mentoring approach.
Course:
Turning Experience into New Opportunities: Work and vision for 55+
In the later stages of life, individuals often find themselves at a crossroads, whether as employees seeking to adapt their careers, unemployed individuals looking to re-enter the workforce, or retirees exploring meaningful ways to stay active and engaged. Over the years, they have accumulated valuable knowledge, skills, and insights that can still contribute significantly to organisations, communities, and society as a whole. However, navigating employment options, aligning career paths with personal goals, and understanding the evolving needs of the modern workforce can be challenging-especially for those over 55 who may face structural barriers or uncertainty about their next steps.
This course is designed to empower participants-whether employed, unemployed, or retired-to explore flexible career paths, build their professional profiles, and plan their futures. The training programme incorporates practical exercises, group discussions, and scenario-based learning activities to ensure that participants can apply their knowledge effectively. Additionally, participants will engage in reflection and experience-sharing sessions, enriched by observations and feedback from trainers and SME advisors.
The programme is structured into three comprehensive modules:
Module 1: Professional Development for Senior Talents
This module focuses on self-assessment, personal development planning, and building strong professional profiles. Participants will learn to identify their strengths, set personal goals, and utilise digital and practical resources for career growth.
Module 2: Employment Options towards Retirement
Participants will explore national legal frameworks, employment pathways, and practical tools for career transitions, including self-employment, part-time work, and retirement planning. Scenario-based learning will help participants create personalised employment roadmaps.
Module 3: Reflection
This module encourages participants to reflect on their learning experiences, articulate their professional development plans, and share insights about their career aspirations.
