About Senior Talent

Senior Talent is an Erasmus+ project that focuses on improving how individuals aged 55 and over are supported in today’s evolving world of work. With demographic change affecting labour markets across Europe, the project responds to two pressing needs: ensuring that older employees can continue to develop their careers in meaningful ways, and helping organisations make better use of the experience and knowledge already within their teams.

While many senior professionals are ready and willing to contribute, they often face outdated assumptions, limited access to training, or a lack of suitable opportunities. At the same time, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may struggle to engage and retain older talent due to limited resources or strategies.

Senior Talent brings together partners from Austria, Finland, Germany and Latvia to develop practical tools, training resources, and policy recommendations. The project works closely with SMEs and senior employees to test and refine solutions that encourage intergenerational collaboration, promote lifelong learning, and help organisations respond to the realities of an ageing workforce.

We believe experienced professionals should have the opportunity to stay active, valued, and involved in working life for as long as they choose. Senior Talent supports inclusive workplaces where experience, knowledge, and contribution are recognised as essential strengths.

Experience is Europe´s hidden treasure – Senior Talent unlocks it to build a future where knowledge never retires.

What we do

SeniorTalent responds to Europe’s demographic shift. Millions of employees are retiring – and with them, valuable knowledge disappears. Our project develops solutions to keep older workers engaged and make their skills and knowledge available within the company and for society.

Strategic Research

A clear and accessible research report that identifies regional skill gaps and explores how older professionals, retirees, and employers view the role of senior talent in today’s workplaces. It also compares labour laws across partner countries and highlights what helps or hinders inclusive employment practices.

Training Toolbox

The Training Toolbox is designed to help people aged 55+ stay active and connected with the workforce while supporting companies in knowledge transfer.
Highlights:
+ Guidance on employment options after retirement
+ Mentoring courses for knowledge transfer

White Paper

A final publication that brings together insights from the project’s research and pilot phases. It offers clear recommendations for employers, policymakers, and training providers, aimed at promoting long-term, meaningful support for senior professionals across Europe.

Job Fairs

Three regional job fairs will be hosted to bring together businesses and people aged 55+. Each event includes networking opportunities, presentations of research findings and the White Paper, and expert talks on lifelong learning and skill development.

Why it matters

  • Prevents old-age poverty and “retirement shock.”
  • Improves health and well-being through active participation.
  • Strengthens the competitiveness of European businesses.

Project timeline

The project runs from 12/2023 to 05/2026, with research, development, and pilot activities carried out in all four partner countries. Key activities include national and regional studies, training material development, stakeholder engagement events, and the publication of project outputs.
